Profile

Navjot Atwal has an extensive civil practice with a particular focus on commercial and business disputes, insolvency and professional negligence. He has Court of Appeal experience and regularly appears in the Companies Court and Bankruptcy Court in addition to other divisions of the High Court.

Commercial & business law

Navjot practices in all types of commercial and business cases with an emphasis on claims involving partnership disputes and commercial contract disputes. He has been involved in disputes involving the sale of goods (including disputes relating to title) and contractual claims raising agency, guarantee, misrepresentation, duress and breach of fiduciary duty issues. He has particular experience of claims involving Commercial Agency agreements.

Insolvency & restructuring

He regularly appears in individual bankruptcy and corporate insolvency cases including: administrations, liquidations, wrongful trading, fraudulent trading and misfeasance claims. He has expertise in proceedings against directors under the Company Director Disqualification Act (CDDA).

Professional Negligence

Navjot has wide-ranging experience in professional liability work including claims against accountants, solicitors, engineers, architects, surveyors and financial advisers

Privy Council

In addition to his specialist areas, Navjot regularly appears on behalf of and against a range of Caribbean and other Commonwealth governments in civil and criminal cases in the Privy Council.

Other relevant information

Before joining chambers Navjot worked as an intern at the European Commission in Brussels dealing with internal market policy within the European Union. He also worked as a parliamentary researcher in the House of Commons.

Navjot is a Sunley, Hardwicke and Cassel scholar of Lincoln’s Inn.
